Who is best suited to this look?
This smouldering silver works well with all eye colours, so it suits everyone!
How do I acheive perfect smouldering eyes?
It’s very important to frame your eyes, so use a brow shaping kit such as Benefit Brow Zings, $53 or a brow pencil.
Nine steps to steely silver eyes:
1. Start by applying concealer under the eyes and a primer over the lids to even out any imperfections and give you a clean canvas.
2. To achieve a silver smoky eye, you’ll need three eyeshadows in different shades such as light pink, steel silver and charcoal grey.
3. Using a good charcoal eyeliner, draw a line across each lid, keeping it as close to the lashline as possible. Go over this with grey eyeshadow to ensure it sets and will last all night. I recommend Benefit Smokin’ Eyes, $68, or Love Your Look Velvet Eyeshadows, $34 (each), in Where There is Smoke, Leggy and Buckle Bunny.
4. Apply the pink shadow all over lids, but not beyond the crease. The best way to find your crease is to tip your head back slightly and look in the mirror, then you’ll see the shadow of your crease.
5. Now apply the silver shadow in the creases, making sure it’s darker in the outer corners and lighter at the inner corners
6. Using the grey shadow, make a V shape at the outer corner of each lid – this will exaggerate the smoky look.
7. Instead of black eyeliner, apply grey shadow under the bottom lashline. This will give you an understated sultry look.
8. Apply a coat of Benefit Bad Gal Mascara in Plum, $36, if you have green or hazel eyes, or Bad Gal Mascara in Blue, $36, for brown or blue eyes. Add a second coat for a fuller-lash look.
9. For a more sultry look, dot the same pink colour you used on your lids on the inner corners of the eyes. Stay away from solid white, as this will look too obvious.
