What’s your favourite make-up look this season?
“Bold eyebrows (at the salon we’ve dubbed them the ‘Arch de Triomphe’). This year arches are thicker, more glam and more groomed. For those wanting to try this at home you’ll need a good quality eyebrow pencil to accentuate and define the brow, followed by a sweep of your mascara brush (remove as much product as you can with a tissue first) to shape and darken. And be sure to get your brows regularly shaped by a professional.”
Which three people would be at the top of your dinner-party list? “I don’t do dinner parties and I don’t cook. But if I did, it would be my three best friends from school – we have known each other since we were five years old.”
What is the most common make-up mistake you see people make? “Shaping their own eyebrows – it is really quite an art.”
What’s in your handbag at the moment? “My Venustus Tahiti Perfume, Dior Airflash Spray Foundation (for when I go out straight from work), MAC Lipglass, mascara and Chanel white eyeliner (for the insides of my eyes). Then there’s my BlackBerry, photos of my son and my husband, paperwork and my diary. Luckily it’s a pretty big bag.”
Biggest splurge? “Changing the salon’s body care and skincare range to organic – it’s the most amount of money I have ever spent, but it’s worth it.”
Favourite product of all time? “Venustus Tahiti Perfume, $88. It takes the hassle out of finding your perfect scent when you design them yourself.”
If you were going to be stranded somewhere, what three things would you want with you? “My son, my husband and my mobile. And hopefully a spa.”
Secret travel tip? “Moisturising facial spritzers, Tahitian serum and sunscreen. And even when I’m back at home and working 70 hours a week, I just sniff one of these and it takes me straight back to my last trip.”
Proudest career moment? “Winning five small business awards for my salon. Nothing comes close.”
What is your best summer beauty trick? “Keep your skin looking perfect with regular facials – then all you need is a dust of bronzer, a slick of gloss and waterproof mascara and you’re done.”
