(Not so) new obsession

I love multi-tasking. It’s just so…feminine. So imagine my delight when I stumbled across Becca Beach Tint which works as both a cheek and lip stain. According to its website, Becca Beach Tint, $42, (02) 8399 1274, is "a beautifully blendable crème stain for cheeks and lips that suits all skin types. Kiss-proof and water-resistant, it dries to a perfect, streak-free, non-greasy and non-drying finish. Each shade is deliciously scented in its synonymous name."
This is one of those products that I felt driven to own because of rave reviews from friends and people in the beauty industry, and on a chilly Autumn morning as I sat in front of my computer nursing a chai latte and (possibly) a mild hangover I committed that most heinous of beauty crimes - buying before trying.
The gamble paid off though, I was suitably impressed with Becca's waterproof and smudge-proof Beach Tint. The colour is a deep coral with pink and red undertones, and you can control how intense the colour appears on your cheeks by altering your method of application and the amount of product you use. I find a pin-head sized dollop is more than sufficient for rosy cheeks.
I apply it by dabbing a tiny amount of product between my index fingers and then dabbing several dots of colour on the apples of my cheeks before blending in a circular motion with my fingers. Also I find using a primer beneath the tint makes it last longer and somehow gives it a more natural, glowing finish. Oh, and did I mention it smells like watermelon? I’m ashamed to admit that I’m a sucker for sweet-smelling goodies.
You do need to make sure you shake the little tube before squeezing out any colour because occasionally some ingredient separation can occur. But all in all, Becca have made a stand-out product that surpasses the quality of many similar cream blushes and tints on the market today. I'm definitely a Becca convert, but I do still love my Nars powder blushes for their pigmentation and lasting power (plus I have an unhealthy fixation with all things Nars).
You can purchase Becca Beach Tint from the Becca Cosmetics counter in Myer, from the Becca website and from adorebeauty.com.au which is a fantastic e-tail site based in Melbourne.
I'm super-keen to try the new peach coloured Beach Tint which is also now available.
