Oh, how far we've come

SHOP 4 Kids market editor Jaynie is just about one of the hottest, coolest women I’ve ever met. This is made all the more annoying by the fact that she’s nine weeks off having a baby. Honestly, the girl is an inspiration.
I wasn’t quite so sexy when I was pregnant. I was very partial to a poncho. I couldn’t get enough of the things. This may have had something to do with the fact that I ate a jar of Nutella using a banana as a spoon every night for dinner. Actually, having just finished my lunch, I’m having a schnitzel baby as we speak and I really wish I was wearing one now. So please know that by posting this picture of Jaynie I by no means want to put any added and unnecessary pressure on any pregnant readers who aren’t feeling quite so sartorially inspired. What I would like to point out is how cool it is that maternity wear has come so far since 20 or 30 years ago when our mums were having us. No Peter Pan collars, no muu-muus (hey, a poncho is not a muu-muu), no leg-o-mutton sleeves. I doubt many of us even buy a single maternity item (outside of a bra, that is). It’s just leggings, comfy over-sized tees, clingy jersey dresses, harem pants and three-sizes-up in boyfriend jeans. Or, if you happen to be Jaynie, vintage sequins, denim cut-offs and ankle boots. Can’t wait to see how she dresses the baby.
Have you had a baby? What was your favourite (or most-worn, at least) outfit?
