Yesterday was the best day of my life!

I was part of Oakley’s “Learn to Ride” surf promotion to raise money for the One Sight Foundation with some of the world’s best surfers and Zac Efron. I must say I was pretty beside myself when I heard Zac was coming down here. It has always been a dream of mine to actually meet the Hollywood heart throb.

My day began with a small group of us meeting with the Oakley team, along with the organisers and our wonderful surf instructors-consisting of world pros and the Bondi Rescue guys! Who better to get a surf lesson from?

Now, I’ve been to premieres before and seen how the paparazzi work when stars walk down the red carpet, but I have never seen so many crazy photographers and fans until yesterday. You could see Zac make his way down from North Bondi Italian (where he left his girlfriend, Vanessa Hudgens) before he made his little debut in the surf. Flashes were going off everywhere and as Zac made his way along the beachfront towards where we were surfing, as a mob of photographers and fans chased after him, screaming and yelling. It was incredible to see.

Zac didn’t actually have a surfing lesson with us. Instead he assisted us getting on our boards and standing up. I was one of the lucky ones to have help from Zac and Layne Beachley in the very short four minutes he spent in the water. It was very exciting and I actually stood up!

After all that excitement we went back to North Bondi Surf Club and refreshed ourselves for the next stage of the event. I felt very spoilt being treated to an amazing lunch at North Bondi Italian Food. After finishing lunch I heard that both Zac and Vanessa were planning to leave the restaurant. So, before they had the chance to go anywhere I jumped up with my two copies of our February issue of Shop Til You Drop with Vanessa Hudgens on the cover and went over and introduced myself.

Zac and Vanessa seemed very pleased to meet me and were ecstatic about seeing Vanessa on the cover. Vanessa loved it. Zac turned to her and said that it was the “best cover”, then gave her a kiss on the forehead… awww! I proceeded to show them the cover story where they both featured in as they reminisced on some of the events pictured.

Vanessa wanted to keep a copy of the magazine as she was so impressed. She also autographed the other copy for me to take back to SHOP. We were all very excited when I bought it back to the office… Thank you February cover girl. We will treasure this forever and thanks again to Oakley who provided me with the most amazing experience.
